Welcome To Our Farm

$timulus Dollars

We are pleased to announce our own $TIMULUS DOLLARS program. Unlike the other stimulus program we think you will like this one.

Over the last 18 years Mark Smith Farms have slowly been building one of the top llama herds in the USA. At the last 5 major shows we have attended (2010 LFA Futurity, 2010 NAILE, 2011 World Futurity, The 2011 ILR National Show, and 2011 NAILE) we won more classes, champions and prize money than any other breeder.

We believe that participating in shows is the best form of advertising a livestock breeder can do. What better place is there to promote your breeding program, showing others the best that you have to offer and making contact with potential customers? Mark & Susan will admit that they are show junkies. We even met in a showring showing sheep at the 1974 Indiana State Fair.

As an industry we have seen many of the print publications disappear. We just do not have as many opportunities to advertise as we once did. The high cost of travel, entry fees and commission costs to enter llamas at our major sales have almost become prohibitive as well. We still believe that our major auctions are very much needed to create excitement and to reach potential customers and we will continue to support those auctions with our own consignments.

With the money saved by Mark Smith Farms on print advertising and the money saved by not sending as many llamas through the sales we would like to pass those savings on to our customers. Never ones to be content with doing the same old thing year after year we have come up with our $TIMULUS DOLLARS incentive.

With our herd at 120+ we can offer a large selection that many cannot. EVERY juvenile and yearling male and female on the farm that we have bred is for sale. That’s right, everyone that has the MSF prefix is for sale, none held back. Either you can show them or we will.

Here is how the program works:

Purchase a llama(s) from Mark Smith Farms in 2012 and show in halter classes at the 2012 shows

1. Win a Champion at any sanctioned ILR or ALSA show with at least 12 in their fiber division – receive $200
2. Win a Reserve Champion at any sanctioned ILR or ALSA show with at least 12 in their fiber division – receive $100

5. Class winner at the ILR Gathering – receive $250

*only the highest bonus will be paid at the Gathering for each llama
8. Place 1st or 2nd at year’s end for “Pot of Gold” youth gelding futurity – receive $500
9. All bred females sold in 2012 - their crias will be eligible for the same bonuses
for 2013 shows.

*To collect $timulus Dollars the owner is required to send photo
*Maximum payout for any one llama sold in 2012 is $1,000
*All $timulus Dollars to be paid after the conclusion of the last show in 2012

Please look over all the females and males we have for sale. We think you will like what you see. Prices listed are firm but discounts will be considered for multiple purchases. As the weather improves and time allows we will be posting more photos of more llamas later. Happy Shopping!
